Album Intro
A true story. An adventure made by everyday people, who not only
wanted to prove something to themselves, but accomplish something positive
and valuable for others by their endeavour.
The album is about one man's inspiration to fulfil his son's
ambition to climb Kilimanjaro. The son had been planning to fulfil his own
ambitions regarding the ascent of the mountain when he was tragically
kidnapped and killed by local African bandits. In memory of his son, the
father then went on to organise a climb, gathering many like-minded people
whose endeavours also raised funds for the 'Children in Crisis' charity.
I found the story to be an inspirational drama that the world
deserved to share, and understand. I set about expressing a musical record
of their journey; the trials, love and faith of those who undertook the
challenge (Including Jeff Stewart of New World Music).
Flavoured throughout with the instruments of Africa, one can sense
the excitement, the wonder, the tension and the final triumph of dreams
that came true. A portion of the sales from the album are also being
contributed to the Children in Crisis appeal
